Amber Weaver, who noticed a male dominated industry, decided to start FEMME TYPE in 2019, to make it less difficult for women in the industry to become graphic designers and occupy leadership positions. Since we are heavy on supporting and recognizing women in type design, we highlight the major areas when it comes to female representation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FEMME TYPE was made as a creative review publication to appreciate type designers and type-focused creatives made by women in an industry dominated by male designers. Since its inception, the independent platform has recognized women type designers like Zuzana Licko, Carol Twombly, Margaret Calvert, and Verena Gerlach in the area of calligraphy, graphic design, and typography.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
